On March 21st, 2025, Fuji Oil Ghana inaugurated a 300MT shea warehouse in Fumbisi, built for and donated to local women-led cooperatives. Three times the size of previous warehouses, this is the largest facility of its kind ever donated by the company. Do you wonder why it has to be this big? That’s because this warehouse has more in store…
Fumbisi’s new warehouse will transcend its purpose as a shea storage facility: it will also provide aggregating services to other cooperatives in our Sandema sector. By encouraging cooperatives to work together and support each other in the business with Fuji Oil, we aim to achieve the next level in our growing Tebma Kandu sustainability strategy.
Unlike typical buyer-supplier relationships, Fuji Oil works directly with cooperative leaders, forming long-term ties and negotiating purchases directly. Our factory in Ghana requires 50,000MT of shea kernels annually to run its Techiman plant at full capacity. By partnering with women collectors, rather than sourcing through intermediaries, the company secures its supply while helping the women increase yields, reduce effort, and earn more.
Moreover, this warehouse is designed to offer value outside the shea season as well, by aggregating other crops to create extra income streams. It's part of a broader goal: build a stronger, more sustainable supply chain by investing in the people at its core.
