To fulfill our responsibilities and commitments, procuring high-quality and safe raw materials in a sustainable manner is of vital importance. We promote environmentally, socially and economically sustainable procurement as we continue to develop together with society.
Our main focus is on sustainable palm (kernel) oil, shea butter and cocoa.
Palm (kernel) Oil
Palm oil is generally used in a wide range of applications from food to non food.
Palm trees have the highest oil yield per acre among vegetable oils, but as the scale of the market continues to expand there are concerns about the environmental impact and human rights.
Sustainable Palm (kernel) Oil is a key raw material for Fuji Oil Europe exclusively used for food applications. Sustainability across the Palm Oil supply chain is managed by our RSPO certification, complimented by the traceability follow-up controlled by The Forest Trust (TFT).

Membership in RSPO and use of certified palm (kernel) oil
Since the founding the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) in 2004, the Fuji Oil Group has been a member and has used RSPO-certified palm (kernel) oil.
Next to actively promoting the use of RSPO-certified palm (kernel) oil to our customers, we are implementing various measures including the installation of additional tanks and supply chain improvements.
Today we offer mainly SG and MB certified sustainable palm (kernel) oil, although IP is also included in our certification.
RSPO Supply Chain Options:
1. Identity Preserved (IP): Complete segregation of RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil from a single certified oil mill through to end users.
2. Segregation (SG): Complete segregation of RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil from multiple certified oil mills through to end users.
3. Mass Balance (MB): A system that allows mixing of RSPO and non-RSPO certified palm oil through to end users. Companies are required to control the volume of certified palm oil they purchase and sell in the supply chain.
Measures to support supply chain traceability
In July 2016, the Fuji Oil Group became a member of Tropical Forest Trust (TFT), a non-profit organization that provides support in the field of raw material sustainability. The Fuji Oil Group is working with TFT and it’s suppliers to improve traceability in the entire supply chain, with an initial target of achieving full traceability from plantation to palm oil mill by 2020. UniFuji
In response to an increasing demand for high quality, traceable and sustainable palm oil in the global market, Unifuji Sdn Bhd was founded in 2017. Unifuji is a 50/50 joint venture between United Plantations (UP) and Fuji Oil Ltd. In Malaysia, in the middle of a well-managed plantation of 18.000 ha owned by UP, Fuji Oil Ltd. has built a new refinery and fractionation plant that produces high quality, traceable and sustainable palm oil.
Unifuji is set up as a plant focused on sustainability (RSPO certified, running on renewable energy and with a very low water footprint) and high quality (low 3MCPD + GE + MOSH-MOAH). Fuji Oil Europe offers these value added fractions to key brand manufacturers throughout the world.
